Beyond the Office
When we're not working with advisors, you'll usually find James on the golf course and Valerie enjoying the Las Vegas sunshine by the pool.
We're also passionate Vegas Golden Knights fans and season ticket holders, so during hockey season there's a pretty good chance you'll find our family at T-Mobile Arena on game night.
Most importantly, we're the proud parents of five kids, including two teenagers still at home who keep life plenty interesting.
For us, Akers Enterprises isn't just a business. It's a family business—and we try to bring that same personal approach to the advisors we work with.
Meet James Akers
Founder & CEO
James Akers has spent more than 30 years in the financial-services industry, with experience spanning investment advisory services, retirement planning, insurance, agency development, marketing and advisor mentorship.
As a former RIA Principal, James spent years helping clients navigate retirement decisions and manage investment risk. His career also expanded into the insurance industry, where he built a Medicare agency from the ground up to more than 1,000 clients before moving deeper into annuity distribution, advisor development and marketing.
Over the years, James has worked with thousands of retirement plans and has developed a particular focus on helping consumers approaching retirement understand risk, income, taxes and the role insurance products can play in a comprehensive retirement strategy.
Today, he leads Akers Enterprises and works directly with independent advisors on case development, marketing, business strategy and growth.
James has also been featured by Fox, CBS and ABC and has appeared on national television.
But the philosophy behind Akers Enterprises remains straightforward:
